Okay, hold on. In no way do I mean to pinpoint Alex or anything--Alex, you know I like you! But I disagree with Ben... I think it was cheating and I'm glad that Alex owned up to it.

Maybe they don't say that "writing on your hand is cheating", but they can't list all the forms of cheating. Maybe they should, but I guarantee you that cheating students can find another loophole or way to get around any list they create. Writing down methods and formulas and answers on your hand is cheating, the same way copying someone's work is cheating. Tests are supposed to test what you know, and if you don't know it and have to use some method and sneak around to know it, that's cheating. If you're sneaking, you're cheating.

I'm not trying to "make an example" of Alex here, I really think you're a great kid Alex. But Ben... when is it ever good to cheat? And with the Bill Gates/rich example, money doesn't buy you everything. It's nice to be well off, but I wouldn't cheat my way into it.

sometimes, it's best to cheat. Bill Gates did it and he's rich. The banks do it. The courts do it. Celebrities do it. Steve Jobs did it and he people say nice things about him! Heck, even NATO does it!

There is no right or wrong in this world. According to the rules, you did not cheat. Ask them, how is your action in anyway a violation of the rules. If they cannot come up with valid answer or they simply refuse to answer, then respond that they have no grounds on punishing you. If they know that they can get away from following due process, call me. If they deny the request, dismiss the charges based on lack of due process. If they say there is no "due process", lecture them on how this whole system is corrupt. DO NOT LET THEM INTERRUPT YOU!! You must let me back you up if you can't yourself.

I will come in fight for you. I will not let a single friend fall to the oppressors. Even if they deny every last card I can play, that doesn't mean the game's over.

It never said that you couldn't write on your hand like that. Had you not admitted wrong doing (and made a quick phone call to me) you would have been able to walk away with your dignity intact and feared.

well i was trying to cheat on the math test

i was using pen to write the compounding intrest formulas on my hand. for some reason i couldnt seem to memorize them. I was doing this in my fith period and my teacher, Mrs.Lyons, saw me writing and assumed it was cheating. she walked straight over to me and saw what i was doing. I had no choice but to explain. I had to go down to the office and the counselor people there were teaching me the lesson of why cheating is immoral. they also said that since they haven't seen very many cases, they might make an example of me! i took the test, Mr.Smith was informed, and sadly, the formulas weren't even on the test. it was actually quite easy. After class i appolagized to Mr.Smith and asked what was gunna happen. He smiled and said, "oh you'll see". when i got home i thought i should probably tell my mom before the phone call came. i got lectured for an hour or so haha. I have learned my lesson though. I am not proud of what i did and although this might sound unbelievable, I vow never to cheat again. i do have to admit it made today pretty interesting. thanks for the offer though ben.

Over the past few months, I have been experimenting with a mobile template for yawn4life my personal blog full of ramblings and just about anything else I can find On the Internet.

I've now put up a mobile template for misc which you can access on your favorite web enabled cell phone

The design and the font still need adjustment but I think that it's a little better than using the desktop template on your mobile

I need to get back to work now

Recently I've heard that many stupid politicians are goin at it trying to cue the overly giant budget. My suggestion? Cut everything. It's too late to argue about what to cut and what to keep. That ship sailed a few years. Now the only thing that can be done is raise taxes and cut lots and lots of spending.

Of note, the war in Libya shouldn't have been fought at all. It's raising oil prices.

I changed the pic of the angry smiley face where it said i was following this blog. my new picture is me being weird. haha, im not sure what im doing, it kinda looks like im one of those budha people making a cool hand sign, and the light coming from behind me makes it intense. I think the last time I posted here was when I was in 7th grade. I guess I lost intrest, but i think misc thought isa cool idea. The job wouldn't be too difficult: add members, post everyday that's about it. I want misc thought just to be around not to rip apart the world but just be a group of friends discussing things thy have thought up.

I have heard a lot about it but I have not personally used it. I heard that it is very user friendly and people quite enjoy it. But I'm more of a red hat fan when it comes to which version of linux so I like something like Fedora or Red Hat Enterprise Linux. Plus, most businesses use Red Hat Enterprise Linux as their linux distro so I can probably get a job working with linux.

For those of you who haven't tried it, think about it. It's a cool operating system. You get desktop effects, better security (no anti virus software necessary!) and it just works.

Plus it's free!

compiz fusion is great to play around with. there are lots of random effects you can add to your desktop.

Also, with linux, you can get lots of free software! And it's open source, so you are joining a community of people around the globe who contribute to this software your using. Plus open source means more freedom and openness, meaning no giant software company rolling out proprietary software!

In my opinion, Linux is better faster stabler and just plain fun.

There are many variations on linux. Popular distributions include: red hat enterprise linux, fedora, ubuntu, and mint. I personally run fedora because it is more modern than the rest of the distributions (and i'm a computer geek) but I've heard that linux mint is pretty easy to use.

You download the iso file off the internet and then burn it onto a disk. Then put the disk in and restart the computer. Follow the directions and you'll have linux on your computer!

Note that depending on the installation you do, you might erase your excising files and operating system. Backup your important files before installing and install with caution.

My past few weeks have been going by really fast. I've read a few books, did a bit of computer programming and then I installed my first 64 bit Linux!!! Woot woot

There are many themes in Franz Kafka's The Metamorphosis, but the most prominent is reflecting Murphy's Law, the theme that "Anything that can go wrong, will go wrong." This theme is shown right from the get go in The Metamorphosis when Kafka opens when Gregor Samsa wakes up transformed into a monstrous vermin. Gregor happened to be the support for his family. As a traveling salesman, he made good pay and had a nice lifestyle, albeit he had to get up extremely early. Gregor paid for his family's upper middle-class lifestyle, a nicely furnished apartment, maids and cooks, and a laziness that came from not working for a long time. Once Gregor becomes a vermin, his family has no source of income. Gregor's father, mother, and sister all have to have multiple jobs, plus taking care of Gregor. They eventually have to rent out their apartment to continue paying for their expenses. These guests take advantage of the poor Samsas, making them bend to their will, and eventually refusing to pay. All these things happen because they can. The Samsas didn't do anything wrong, life just decided to screw them because life happens like that. Their whole life crumbled just because, no other reason.

The themes from Franz Kafka's The Metamorphosis can often be found in the many art movements that make up Modernism. The theme that "Anything that can go wrong, will go wrong" is best reflected in the art movement of Cubism, showing the disproportionate images of life, the messed up pictures where each shape is another aspect of life that can and will be screwed. Cubism didn't, however, start out like that. Cubism was led by Spaniard Pablo Picasso and Frenchman George Braque. Cubism was meant to break from traditional painting where everything looks normal. Instead, Cubists painted in multiple two-dimensional shapes to create three-dimensional figures. These figures appeared broken and fragmented, creating multiple horizons and points of view at the same time. These disoriented figures can show life being broken, fragmented, and all wrong because it can be wrong.

Cubism came in two major phases, Analytic and Synthetic. The Analytic phase was from 1907-1912. This phase was so abstract that it consisted of overlapping planes making one giant, three-dimensional, geometric blog; almost as if Cubists were painting what someone was seeing while being high. Most artwork in this period was in browns, grays, or blacks. Landscapes were rare; paintings consisted of a motif; such as musical instruments, bottles, and playing cards; and a human. This phase attempted to show the world through the mind, not the eye. Being simpler and brighter, the Synthetic phase lasted from 1913 through the 1920s. The art from this phase was shallower, blander, and less abstract. The works from this period influenced many other painters, as well as some sculptures and architecture of the twentieth century.

One of these Cubist works of art is "Artillery" by Frenchman Roger de La Fresnaye. Artillery was painted in 1911, three years before World War I. WWI also happens to appear to be the subject of this work. However, this scene is entirely fictional. La Fresnaye could have seen this sort of military operations in Paris, the military officers on white and brown horses, the caissons rolling by, foot soldiers in helmets marching along, and bands playing militaristic songs.

Roger de La Fresnaye was the son of a military officer. He painted "Artillery" in 1911, the same year he joined the Section d'Or, a group started by Pablo Picasso and George Braque, the founders of Cubism. Le Fresnaye painted "Artillery" paying close detail to the colors. He painted it using basic geometric shapes for everything, while painting in a combo of red, white, and blue. He also used many earthen tones to deepen his painting. His view, and of all Cubists, was that "solid geometry underlines the all forms in nature" and this can be taken to be applied to Franz Kafka's The Metamorphosis.

"Artillery" and The Metamorphosis share some of the same theme. The theme of "Anything that can go wrong, will go wrong" shows in "Artillery" because it is a scene of war. War means that something has gone wrong. The Metamorphosis shows this because Gregor Samsa was turned into a bug. The two both show life falling apart, people being turned into bugs, and a broken image that shows life has been fractured.

Did you know that in Pyongyang, the metro system is over a half-mile deep in the ground? It was made like this in case the US decided to bomb Pyongyang so the citizens would have a bomb shelter.

Many in North Korea sneak into China in an effort to escape to South Korea. The journey is hard and if you are caught in China, they will deport you back.

The place is poor. REally REAALY poor.

But it has lots and lots of trees
